The
Truth At Last
I can sing this to you cause you seem so
kind and understanding
I can sing this to you cause you seem sort
of scant but undemanding
I could drag out the line just to buy me
some time or nod out
And you could try to decide if I'm wasting
your time and get out
Or I could give in to you, to you, to you
I could give in to you, to you, you, you,
you, you, you
Not what I'm about to do
No, not what I'm about to do
I could run for the hills, get some quality
pills and check out
Yeah, I could go for the thrills, put myself
through the mill and check out
Or I could feather my nest, lay down for the
rest and miss out
Or I could beat on my chest and compete with
the best and win out
Or I could give in to you, to you, to you
I could give in to you, to you, you, you,
you, you, you
Not what I'm about to do
Not what I'm about to do
Somewhere there's a sentiment in mind
One minute it's your money, the next it's
your time
Well I could block up the system with a
bottle of wine
And give the resident madman a chance to
define
Well as the world's greatest liar I could
walk through the fire and sit down
I could take all the pain, play it out as a
game and sit down
Or I could give in to you, to you, to you
I could give in to you, to you, you, you,
you, you, you
Not what I'm about to do, I said
Not what I'm a-b-b-b-bout to do
Not what I'm about to do, d-do, d-do, d-do,
d-do for you
No (x 19)
A
Quick Fix
Most of my time, I've been staring in the
wrong page
Maybe standing on the wrong stage
For a lesson not found
Yeah I still like to get low down
I'm not a drunk you'd wanna be around
I'm never willing to face up or make up
For that I'm renowned
Like some kind of clown
If I thought I could cheat each emotional
need
Then I'd fake 'em all day cause they're free
of all consequences
Maybe then I would get my release
I'm second to none when it comes to giving
in to my rage
I'm always sounding out the same phrase
Leastways, that's what I'm figuring out
And I gotta find someone
That's not afraid to give it up to me
Cause I'm sick of being numb, I've got bite
marks on my thumbs
And I'm sour in my mouth
I'm always pacing my house
If I thought I could cheat each emotional
need
Then I'd fake 'em all day cause they're free
of all consequences
Maybe then I would get my release
Or instead I'd get a slap 'round the head
And wouldn't that be a sick twist
On the way to my quick fix
Yeah!
If I thought I could cheat each emotional
need
Then I'd fake 'em all day cause they're free
of all consequences
Maybe then I would get my release
Or instead I'd get a slap 'round the head
And wouldn't that be a sick twist
On the way to my quick fix
On the way to my quick fix
I'm on the way to my quick fix
Oh, on the way to my quick fix
The
Feeling I've Been Waiting For
Well I'm indebted to another man
That keeps me feeling like I'm just a hired
hand
And there's some things I don't talk about
Some things I don't understand
Like why does he walk with his ass in his
hands
Now I'm taking my position
In a world that don't listen
And I'm mapping an escape route
Lacing up my big boots
I'm ready to rise from these tangled up
lines
Cause there's a feeling I've been waiting
for
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
Yeah, a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
And I've walked the long corridors
Won the battles but not yet the wars
But I smashed enough glasses
Kicked enough asses
And picked myself up off of too many floors
To give in to the masses
Or lay down in long grasses
Cause I'm all out of patience
So get me to the station
There's a ride I can make that gets me up on
the plate
For the feeling I've been waiting for
It's a feeling I've been waiting for
Yeah, a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
Well I don't know what your plans are
Or how far you're travelling
But could you get to the point
Or to nearer what's happening
I may miss the lesson
Cause I'm not one for schooling
I don't care what your game is
Or who you think you're fooling
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
Yeah, a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feel, there's a feel, there's a
feel
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feeling I've been waiting for
Yeah a feeling I've been waiting for
There's a feel, there's a feel, there's a
feel...
Smoked
The man they look over isn't cherished by
design
He's busy trying to write the line that
might just get him some attention
And they're out there smoking one on the
back step
And they're saying
We've got the news for the news-less
The hope for the hopeless
And the sights for the scopeless
They've got the news for the news-less
The hope for the hopeless
But absolutely nothing for the terminally
fucking useless
And it must feel good to be so right
Their wives must be really pleased to see
them each night
For that kiss on the forehead
The brushed teeth before bed
And we all know what comes next
He asserts all his success with a hard-on
and no caress
Cause he's got that news for the newsless
The hope for the hopeless
And the sights for the scopeless
He's got the news for the newsless
The hope for the hopeless
But absolutely nothing for the terminally
useless
And this may be where I come in
Cause you're always welcome to smoke one
with me
No matter where or who you've been
Or who it was or what you've seen
Or if it's dark and you need to scream
No matter where or who you've been
Or who it was or what you've seen
Or if you need to scream when it's dark and
all the hope is gone
And the next step might be the one too far
And I wouldn't want to be around to count
all the scars
When he says it's not important to be up on
the scoreboard
But we all know that we'd all like to be
handed the cup
It's just too fucked up
When you finally figure out
You've been going ahead backwards
With no breaks (brakes?) just fractures
And a half-empty statement
That says you're all out of credit
Now who would have thought it
Let alone made a bet on it
And I think we're going to need some kind of
insurance
To leave room for the best and the purest
To hold off from the cruisers, let's give it
up for the boozers
That hand the poems across the bar
Cause I'm heard no news that goes to prove
There's anything we stand to lose
Admitting that we're happy with who we are
And this may be where I come in
Cause you're always welcome to smoke one
with me
No matter where or who you've been
Or who it was or what you've seen
Or if it's dark and you need to scream
No matter where or who you've been
Or who it was or what you've seen
Or if it's dark and you need to scream
No matter where or who you've been
Or who it was or what you've seen
Or if it's dark and you need to scream
No, no matter what they try to take
They're just as fucked but they're the fakes
And if you need to scream when it's dark and
all the hope is gone
You're not the only one
A
Yes And A No
I got up this morning
Put my head in my hands
My word's hiding in darkness
They don't come when they're asked
There's a car in my courtyard
With a woman at the wheel
She looks almost as bad as I do
I should go ask her how she feels
But gone is the wanting
To share any moment at all
Cause I've heard too many of my own truths
To care too much at all
If I stand or I fall
I know a man with a mission
And the ability to have
But then the human condition just went and
stopped him in his tracks
And how his hardest decision
Is his choice at the bar
And by my own admission
Then I know exactly where you are
And here comes the real twist
Could you tell me what to think
Cause I've heard too many of my own truths
And I'm all out of energy to think
If I swim or I sink
If I swim or I sink
And there is a yes and there is a no
And there is a yes and there is a no
No...
